Chemical Test

This fifth test to identify pure silk saree is not for the common customer, if you are a businessman or shop owner and buy silk sarees in bulk, then you must try this test. With this test you can definitely find out that a saree is of pure silk or artificial silk.

So to do this test, you have to prepare a chemical solution. To prepare this solution, you have to take 18 grams of copper sulphate (CuSo4) and you have to add 8 grams of Glycerin (C3H8O3) to it. Now you have to add 1 tablespoon caustic soda which is also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Now add 150 cc water to it.

After doing this process, your solution is ready, now you have to put the threads of saree in this solution. If that thread is completely dissolved in this solution and it is not visible, then that saree is of pure silk. If that thread is not dissolved in it then it is all artificial silk saree.
